A general contractor can pull a roofing permit and so can a roofing contractor. It is the contractor’s responsibility, not the homeowners. Whether you’re working with a general contractor or a roofing contractor, they should understand local building codes and know what permits are required. In addition, both types of contractors should be licensed and insured and provide a guarantee of their work. If the companies you talk to don’t tick those boxes, then don’t do business with them.
