Low Slope
Roof Materials
Low-slope roofing is not a single product. It is a category defined by pitch, and the right system depends on exactly where your roof falls in that range.
Modified Bitumen
Modified Bitumen
Asphalt-based membrane that works well across low-slope applications. Multiple layers give it good puncture resistance. Holds up in cold climates where freeze-thaw cycles put stress on roofing materials
TPO and EPDM
TPO and EPDM
Single-ply membranes suited for low slope pitches down to near-flat. TPO reflects heat and works well in warmer markets like Dallas, Charlotte, and Raleigh. EPDM stays flexible in cold weather and is a reliable choice
Low-Slope Rated Shingles
Low-Slope Rated Shingles
Lighter-weight alternatives made to look like clay or slate. Lower structural demands mean they work on homes that cannot support the weight of traditional tile. Lifespans vary by manufacturer, generally 30 to 50 years.
Why Pitch Changes Everything
A low slope roof has a pitch between 2:12 and 4:12. That means for every 12 inches of horizontal run, the roof rises 2 to 4 inches. It looks pitched when you stand on the street, but that is not enough angle for standard shingles to shed water reliably. Below 2:12, the roof is considered flat and needs a membrane system. Between 2:12 and 4:12, your material options are more limited than on a steeper roof.
Standard asphalt shingles shed water by moving it quickly down the slope and off the edge. On a low slope, water moves slowly and stays in contact with the surface much longer. That gives it more time to find gaps, wick under overlaps, and work its way through. Installing standard shingles on a low-slope roof will almost always result in leaks before the product reaches its rated lifespan.

Lifespan Comparison
A properly maintained tile roof, with underlayment replaced at mid-life, may be the only roof you ever need on your home.
A Proven Process for Low Slope Roofing Projects
We begin every project with a full inspection of the membrane, slope, drains, and all penetration flashings. You get a written report before any work is discussed or quoted. If the damage involves an insurance claim, our team helps document everything your adjuster needs and meets on-site if that is useful. We put together a clear scope and timeline, and we stick to it. Our crew cleans up every day and keeps you informed when anything unexpected comes up. Before we close the project, we will walk the roof with you and answer any questions.
